Naukasana(Boat Pose):


The Sanskrit word Nauka means 'Boat'. The final position of this seat looks similar to the shape of the boat, hence it has been named as Naukasana(Boat Pose). This posture can be done both straight-down and inverted.

Let's follow the Steps to do Naukasana (Boat Pose)-

Initial Position-

  • Lie back in the position of 'Respiration' directly on the back side.
  • Keep the ankles and feet together.
  • The arms and palms should be resting on the floor besides to the body.
  • Gradually raise your legs while taking inhalation.
  • Also raise the head and trunk up to angle of 45.
  • Strengthen the arms and lift them up.
  • Maintain this condition for 5-10 seconds.

Come back in Initial Position-

  • Slowly bring the head and torso down on the floor while leaving the breath.
  • After this, bring both legs and arms to the floor below and relax.



Remember the following points-

  • The torso should only be raised to the level of the navel.
  • The hands should straighten without elbows bend.
  • Hands and palms must be raised at a level.
  • Do not raise the torso and feet in non-parallel form.
