Makarasana is a comfortable situation. This situation is called Makarasana. Because the shape of the body in this seat is similar to Capricorn. The Sanskrit word 'Makar' means the crocodile.

Let's follow the steps to do Makarasana(Crocodile Pose)-

Initial situation
  • First of all, lie down on the stomach.
  • Put the legs in a convenient distance.
  • Keep the ankles placed on the inside and the toes on the outside and put the ankles on the ground.
  • Fold the arms with elbow.
  • Holding the front shoulders with both hands respectively. The elbows must be placed on top of each other.
  • Keep your head above the arms and breathe normally.

 Come into former situation- 

  • Remove the right hand from the left shoulder and place it on the right side of the body.
  •  Remove the left hand from the right shoulder and place it on the left side of the body.
  •  Reduce the distance between the feet and come into the initial position.


Remember the following points-

  • If you feel it is difficult to keep the two elbows above each other, then you can keep both elbows at a distance.
  •  Do not keep the chest pressed on the ground. You can have difficulty breathing by holding the chest on the ground.
