Ardha Matsyendrasana was composed by Gorakhnath's master Swami Matsyendranath. They used to be meditating in this posture. The half verse of Matsyendrasana is called Ardha Matsyendrasana. This posture is beneficial for the nerves coming out of them with spinal cord.

Let's follow the steps given below to do Ardha Matsyendrasana -


  • Both feet towards the front and sit. 
  • Now folding the left foot from the knee and keeping the heel under the anus. 
  • Bend the right foot with knee and place it above the stomach of the left foot and put it on the ground behind the stomach. 
  • Now hold the left hand on the right foot knee, ie pressing the knee next to the left and holding the right toe thumb. 
  • Now move the right hand behind the back and hold the lower part of the left leg's thigh. 
  • Turn the head on the right side so that the chin and left shoulder come in a straight line. 
  • Do not bend downwards. 
  • Keep the chest tight.

  • The spinal cord with the Semi-matsyendrasan keeps the spirits from healthy.
